PART#1 ONE DRIVE MIGRATION
If you are planning to migrate OneDrive on premises data to
OneDrive Cloud, you may want to check out few pointers I will be listing on this
article. I am not affiliated with few products I will mentioned on this article
to be clear. I am simply sharing my experience to help other out there might be
planning to go through similar project.
Objective:
Migrate on premises users network data to O365 OneDrive cloud
into your tenant, SharePoint libraries
Planning:
- Discover number of users
- Discover total data you are dealing with
- Run PowerShell script or use Microsoft or third-party tool to accomplish this task
- Collect users AD home folder directory attribute to find out $source data location
- Create users OneDrive URL list to become $destination data location
- Make sure to deploy OneDrive GOP’s to prepare the environment
- Write basic SOP’s (standard operating procedure) educating users to use and understand OneDrive basic usage
- Start writing basic implementation plan steps
Prerequisite:
Install SharePoint online PowerShell module
Install PnP PowerShell
